Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about the online price, the work itself and how a job runs. Anything missing — WhatsApp 07570 215024.
How much does it cost to paint a room in Lewisham?
A double bedroom with walls, ceiling, woodwork, one door and one window typically comes to £530–£860 excluding VAT; a box room with walls and ceiling only from £350–£440. Taller period ceilings, poor surfaces and big colour changes add to it. The Instant Quote prices your own rooms.
How long does a room take?
Usually one to two days including preparation and two coats, longer if walls need a lot of filling or wallpaper stripping. Whole flats and houses take longer and are sequenced room by room.
Is the online price a quote?
No. It is an indicative range worked out from your answers using our published rate table. A decorator reviews everything you sent, including photos, and confirms a fixed written quote — after a short video call or visit if the job needs one.
Do I have to give my details to see a price?
No. The Instant Quote shows the range first. Contact details are only asked for if you want a decorator to confirm a fixed quote.
Who supplies the paint?
Either. The estimate assumes trade-quality paint supplied by the decorator; you can choose a premium brand or supply your own, and the range adjusts.
Which areas do you cover?
The London Borough of Lewisham — Catford, Brockley, Forest Hill, Sydenham, Deptford, Blackheath, Hither Green, Lee, New Cross and the rest of the borough — plus neighbouring parts of Southwark, Lambeth and Greenwich. Put your postcode in the quote and we will say straight away if it is outside our range.
How long does it take to paint a flat or house?
A single room is usually one to two days. A two-bedroom flat throughout is typically three to five days; a three-bedroom house a week or more, depending on condition, ceiling height and the amount of woodwork.
Do I need to move furniture?
Small items and anything fragile, yes. Larger pieces are moved to the middle of the room and covered. Say how furnished the rooms are in the quote and it is priced in.
Do you paint new plaster?
Yes, once it has dried out — usually two to four weeks for a skim, longer for thick plaster. A mist coat goes on first. See our guide on painting after plastering.
Can you deal with mould, damp and stains?
Mould is treated with a fungicidal wash and the area primed with a stain block before repainting; water and nicotine stains are blocked the same way. Damp must be fixed and dried out first — the decorator will ask about the cause.
Do you work evenings and weekends?
For communal areas and commercial premises, out-of-hours working can be built into the quote. For homes, tell us your preferred days in the quote.
Is VAT included in the online price?
No. The ranges exclude VAT; VAT is added where the decorator carrying out the work is VAT-registered, and the fixed quote states it clearly.
What happens to my details?
Your brief is saved securely, sent to us, and shared with the decorator who prices and carries out the work. Nothing is sold or used for unrelated marketing. See the privacy policy.
